Want to go fishing but don't have a pole? The Jackson Public Library has rods and reels available to be borrowed free for up to seven days.
The city of Jackson, the Jackson Public Library, Boy Scout Troop 210 and the Missouri Department of Conservation joined together recently to launch the loaner program.
Those 16 and under do not need a license to fish in Missouri. They do need a permit to fish for trout, which are stocked in Rotary Lake in Jackson for an urban fishing program that begins Tuesday.
The library also has brochures available covering basic techniques. For information, call 243-5150.
