Jackson Post 158 claimed the Junior Legion District 14 tournament for a third consecutive year with a 5-2 victory over Cape Girardeau Post 63 on Sunday night at Capaha Field.

Jackson Post 158 claimed the Junior Legion District 14 tournament for a third consecutive year with a 5-2 victory over Cape Girardeau Post 63 on Sunday night at Capaha Field.

Top-seeded Jackson overcame a 2-0 deficit with two runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Tyler Knight, Landon Pehle and Quinten Kent each had an RBI for Post 158.

Winning pitcher Dalton Hovis allowed three hits over six innings before giving way to Colten Weber, who pitched a hitless seventh for the save.

Jackson (22-10) advanced to the Zone 4 tournament which begins Thursday in Ballwin, Missouri.

Post 158 reached the championship game with a 12-1 win over No. 4 Sikeston in five innings. Jackson scored all its runs in the first inning, sending 16 batters to the plate.

Jay Newell, Tristan Burnett and Braeden Dobbs all had two hits for Post 158. Brayden Emmons allowed one hit over five innings for the win. He struck out six and walked four.

Second-seeded Cape advanced to the title game with a 21-14 victory over No. 3 Advance.
