JACKSON, Mo. -- The Notre Dame softball team fell from the ranks of the undefeated with an 1-0 loss to host Jackson Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Indians scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning and held on to drop the Lady Bulldogs to 11-1. Jackson improved to 5-9.

"You have to give Jackson credit," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet. "They played a good game and we came out a little flat."

Jackson leadoff hitter Jeanna Bolen singled off Notre Dame pitcher Mika Williamson's glove in the bottom of the first inning. Bolen was sacrificed to second base by Amy Illers and scored when Casey Hobeck's ground ball to third base was thrown away for an error.

Ashley Snell fired a five-hit shutout for Jackson, striking out three and walking none in seven innings.

"This feels good," said Jackson coach Julie Rushing. "The girls played great and Ashley pitched well."

Tracie Kluesner and Lindsay Reinagel led Notre Dame's offense with two hits each.

Williamson, the tough-luck loser, went the distance and held Jackson to three hits. She struck out one and walked none.

KELLY 7, STE. GENEVIEVE 0

BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly remained undefeated at 6-0 as Dana Essner tossed a one-hit shutout, with seven strikeouts and no walks.

The Lady Hawks had seven hits, led by Ashley Kern's 3-for-3 performance. Bridgett Riley homered and doubled, good for two RBIs, while Cara Scherer added two hits.

PERRYVILLE 9, HERCULANEUM 0

HERCULANEUM -- Amanda Roth fired a three-hitter, with five strikeouts and two walks, as Perryville evened its overall record at 6-6 and improved its Jefferson County Conference mark to 4-1.

The Lady Pirates had five hits, two each by Kelly Kassel and Julia Heuring.

NOTRE DAME 8, FARMINGTON 0

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Notre Dame is now 5-1-1 after routing Farmington.

Shane Kistner and Scott Wittenborn each had two goals and one assist. Tyler Cuba, Matt Pobst, Adam Prasanphanich and Jeff Brosey added the other goals while Tim Buerck, Christian Berens, Prasanphanich and Brosey all had assists. Travis Siebert recorded the shutout.

The JV Bulldogs romped 10-2 behind two goals each from Elliott Vance and Wade Kramer. Dee Goodin, David Kiblinger and Blake Urhahn all had a goal and two assists while Bryce Willen, Brendan McMeel and Jacob Dufek added goals.

CAPE CENTRAL 3, POPLAR BLUFF 0

Jon Mark Thompson scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season to lead the Tigers, who are now 7-3-1.

Cody Hill had the other goal while Heath Orr and Calen Wills contributed assists. Trevor Blattner recorded the shutout.

Central's JV lost 6-3.

JACKSON 3, MARION (ILL.) 1

JACKSON, Mo. -- Patrick Kohm scored two goals for the Indians, now 5-5.

Matt Neil had Jackson's other goal while Matt Litzelfelner added an assist.

VOLLEYBALL

NOTRE DAME 15-15, ORAN 5-4

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 11-1-1 with a two-game romp past Oran.

Jennifer VanGennip had five kills for Notre Dame while Courtney Vickery and Erin Pfau contributed two each. Ali Tyson and Summer McCauley were credited with 11 and eight assists, respectively.

Maria Eftink led Oran with seven kills, three blocks and six points.

Notre Dame hosts Meadow Heights Monday in a huge area matchup.

JACKSON 15-15, WOODLAND 2-4

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson moved to 10-1-1 by rolling past Woodland.

Jessie Koeper paced a balanced Jackson attack with five kills, six assists and four service aces. Jennifer Mesey also had five kills. Erin Hartman added four assists and three aces, Jenna Leet had three kills and five blocks, Kacie Crites had two kills and two blocks and Denae Nagel contributed four digs.

Woodland (5-6) got two kills from Kelly Reed. Emily Davis and Stacy Greer both had four digs.

BELL CITY 7-15-15, RICHLAND 15-9-2

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Bell City had to fight back from a first game loss to knock off an improved Richland team.

The Lady Cubs remained undefeated in the Stoddard County Conference at 2-0 mark and they improved to 8-3-1 overall.

Katie Spears led Bell City with 14 kills, nine digs and 12 service points. Freshman Katie Niemczyk contributed 10 kills, 20 digs and seven service points while sophomore setter Whitney Abner recorded 24 assists and 10 digs.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Perryville fell to 3-5-1 as it dropped its Jefferson County Conference opener.

Rachel Wunderlich and Emily Amberger led Perryville with three kills each, while Amy Garris and Katie Kutz had three blocks apiece. Michelle Preusser recorded six service points.

Perryville hosts its Lady Pirate Invitational Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

FESTUS 15-12-15, ST. VINCENT 3-15-7

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent fell to 1-3 as Festus prevailed in three games.

Beth Hennemann led the Squaws with 10 kills and three aces. Megan Moll had six kills while Danielle Schremp added four.

LEOPOLD 15-15, ADVANCE 4-12

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Leopold improved to 7-2-1 by easing past Advance.

Holly Jansen had 10 kills to pace the Lady Wildcats. Kyla Horrell had seven kills and 16 digs, Wendy Vandeven dished out 19 assists and Courtney Wesbecher added four kills.

For Advance, Nicole Tropf had six kills, Shelby Becker six digs and Leslie Rainey six assists.
