But that was about all that went wrong for the Jackson softball team Wednesday as the Indians remained undefeated with a 6-1 victory at rival Central.

Wade carried a one-hit shutout into the seventh inning. She finished with a three-hitter as the Indians improved to 3-0.

Wade (2-0) struck out six, walked one and benefited from errorless Jackson defense.

Hana Bolen went 2-for-4, including a triple, and drove in two runs for the Indians.

Amanda Nichols took the loss for Central (2-3).

Notre Dame's boys got their season started in a big way by dominating the Class A Division at the meet in Illinois.

The Bulldogs finished first among 11 teams with 18 points, which was 67 points ahead of runner-up Benton (Ill.).

Notre Dame had the top two individuals in the 5K race, and five of the top six. Logan Davis won with a time of 17 minutes, and Wynn McClellan was just one second behind.

Notre Dame's girls placed third among eight squads with 93 points, behind Nashville (Ill.) with 65 and Sparta (Ill.) with 75.

The top 20 individuals earned medals.
