CHARLESTON -- Jackson High's girls basketball team held off a hot Poplar Bluff team with a 64-55 victory Saturday night to capture the championship of the Charleston Tournament.
Shannon Perry turned in a 21-point performance for top-seeded Jackson, which improved to 16-2. Michele Millham added 12 points.
Shuntae Johnson scored 21 points for No. 3 seed Poplar Bluff, while Amy Hendrix finished with 17.
Jackson outscored Poplar Bluff in each of the first three quarters in building a 43-30 lead by the start of the final period. The Lady Indians held an 11-6 lead by the start of the second quarter and a 27-18 advantage at halftime.
Notre Dame upset Cape Central 60-48 in the third-place game and New Madrid defeated Scott County Central 64-49 in the consolation final.
