CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Jackson's girls won the 19-team Carbondale Invitational on Saturday.
Jackson, behind race winner Julie Wunderlich, totaled 71 points, which beat second place Cape Central (83) and eighth-place finisher Kelly (202).
McLeansboro (Ill.) won the boys race with 59 points. Central was third (128), Kelly was eighth (184) and Jackson was ninth (220).
Wunderlich, a sophomore, covered the two-mile course in 11:46. Also for Jackson, Sarah Schlick was seventh (12:16), Christy Thoma 19th (13:04), Sarah Stiegemeyer 21st (13:13) and Sarah Strack 23rd (13:17).
Tobie Bittle finished fourth for Central in 12:05. Kristen Tallent was 10th (12:29), Myka Bohnsack 11th (12:34), Leanne Lee 14th (12:59) and Elizabeth Meyr 44th (13:55).
For Kelly, Amy Arteme placed 12th in 12:38. April Cousins was 29th (13:29), Laura Ruff 41st (13:47), Melissa Garner 56th (14:19) and Megan Nelson 64th (14:45).
Rory Kipper led Central's boys by finishing the 3.1-mile layout in 16:48. Also for Central, Mark Stone was 22nd (17:38), Matt Hawkins 27th (17:50), Jeff Haycraft 32nd (18:04) and Gabe Austin 42nd (18:17).
Kelly's Nathen King placed 14th in 17:16. Michael Riley was 16th (17:22), Denver Stuckey 39th (18:13), Daniel Mothershead 56th (18:43) and Russ Mothershead 59th (18:55).
For Jackson, Mark Sander finished 18th in 17:25. Steven Adams was 46th (18:27), Mike Pope 51st (18:37), John Shearon 52nd (18:37) and Zach Friedrich 53rd (18:40).
Jackson's girls JV won with 52 points and Central was second with 57.
For Jackson, Jodi Brunke was fourth in 14:16, Jessica Craft seventh (14:22) and Dianne Gross ninth (14:25).
For Central, Katie Hawkins finished second in 13:34, Amanda Hutteger fifth in 14:18 and Bethany Hicks tenth in 14:27.

St. Vincent wins tourney
JACKSON -- A tournament at Jackson Saturday included Cape Central, Jackson, Perryville, Poplar Bluff and St. Vincent.
St. Vincent defeated Jackson 16-14, 15-11 in the finals.
GIRLS JV TENNIS
Central wins at Jackson
JACKSON -- With 16 points, Cape Central won a tournament at Jackson Saturday. Jackson and Charleston were second with 14 points, Poplar Bluff fourth with 10.5 points and Chaffee fifth with four points.
Poplar Bluff's Megan Bridges beat Central's Jessica Campbell 8-2 for the singles title. Central's Sarah Chaudhari beat Jackson's Maggie Martin 8-2 for third.
In doubles, Jackson's Annie Lefebvre and Addie Propst beat Charleston's Tonya Nolen and Jodi Bledsoe 8-2. For third, Charleston's Katie Whitehead and Elizabeth Roe beat Central's Jessica Burns and Kelley Green 8-6.
