JACKSON -- Jackson's girls survived a close 17-15 call in their opener with Fredericktown Monday night, but found less resistance in the second game, winning 15-1, to sweep the Lady Black Cats in high school volleyball action.
"We started off real slow and the second game we came back and played real well," said Jackson coach Nancy Ellis.
Jackson improved to 15-6-4.
Chrissi Glastetter led the way with six kills and three blocks. Valerie Jansen contributed five kills while Andrea Koeper finished with three aces and four kills. Bridget Tracy led the defensive effort with six digs and Heather Brown dished out 17 assists.
Jackson won the JV match 16-14, 11-15, 15-12.
Jackson returns to action tonight when New Madrid visits.
Chaffee 15-16
Scott City 9-14
CHAFFEE -- Chaffee evened its record at 5-5 by knocking off rival Scott City at home Monday night.
Kate Nolen had six kills for the Lady Red Devils while Abby Seyer and Emily Siebert both contributed seven assists.
Scott City won the JV match 15-9, 5-15, 17-15.
Chaffee is back in action tonight at Bell City while Scott City visits Advance Thursday night.
Woodland 16-15
Oak Ridge 14-8
MARBLE HILL -- Woodland improved to 8-10-2 by winning at home Monday night.
The Lady Cardinals benefited from a balanced attack. Among the main contributors were Sarah Booth (8 points, 6 kills, 11 digs), Toni Cowell (10 points, 5 assists), Lilo Whitener (5 kills, 2 blocks), B.J. Cameron (6 kills), Dianna Lukefahr (5 kills) and Julia Cutsinger (15 assists).
Oak Ridge's JV won 15-13, 15-10.
Both teams return to action tonight at home, Woodland against Leopold and Oak Ridge against Marquand.
