Jackson's Lindsay Poole took advantage of Notre Dame's failure to clear the ball, intercepting a pass and scoring the lone goal in the second half Monday night as host Jackson prevailed 1-0 in girls soccer.
Kylie Werner recorded her third shutout for Jackson (3-3), which survived a strong first half from the Bulldogs (6-2).
"We pretty much had the better of the play in the first half, and they had the better of the play in the second half," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said.
Jackson coach Zack Walton agreed.
"I thought we had a pretty good second half," Walton said. "Notre Dame did some good things, had some good possessions. I thought our girls came back and played hard in the second half."
JV -- Jackson won, 1-0.
Jessica Welker scored the lone goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Squaws to a win.
Lacey Siegmund picked up the assist for St. Vincent (3-3-2). Megan Wengert had 10 saves in net for the shutout.

The Pirates outshot visiting Poplar Bluff 42-9 but allowed a goal in the final minute of regulation and settled for a tie.

The Hornets took the baseball field for the first time this season after taking third place in Class 2 boys basketball and picked up a road win.
Trenton Moses went 4-for-4 and pitched two innings of scoreless relief for Advance (1-0). Jeremy Limbaugh struck out seven and allowed just one hit in five innings for the win.
Daryl Wade, Corey Roper and David VanGennip added two hits apiece for Advance.

Dexter won the event with 167, followed by Notre Dame's 135.
Allison Toole won the 800, Tori Pfau won the 1,600 and Jessica Banda set the school record in the 3,200 with a 12:57.16. Banda also finished second in the 1,600, and Pfau finished second in the 3,200.

* The Central junior high girls track team won the Malden Invitational, and the boys finished second. The girls had six winners, led by Sadie Pittman in the 200 (29.04) and triple jump (28-6). Stephanie Farrar won the 75 hurdles (13.59), Tasha Terry won the 100 (13.04), Ashayla Martin won the 400 (1:11) and Ashley Sexton won the pole vault (5-6).
Ray Woldtvedt won the pole vault (9-6) for the boys, and Kevin Flesher won the discus (103-2). Central also won the 800 and 1,600 relays. Malcolm Jones, Brandon Robinson, Zach Horrel and Patrick Hahs ran the 800 relay in 1:53.20. Woldtvedt, Collin Summers, Jared Ritter and Yong Kwang Lee ran the 1,600 relay in 4:24.
