HANNIBAL -- It took the Jackson Indian football team about six hours to reach Hannibal for their game against the state-ranked Pirates.

Despite the long trip Saturday, the Indians kept moving on offense -- scoring on their first three possessions -- in a 28-14 win.

Jackson improved to 3-0 with another convincing win. Hannibal, ranked seventh in Class 4A, fell to 2-1.

Big plays staked Jackson to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter. The Indians scored on every one of their possessions in the first half except for its final drive when time ran out in the half with Jackson driving.

Devree Flint continued his outstanding season with two long touchdown runs to pace the Jackson offense. Flint started the scoring in the first quarter with a 40-yard run, then ended the Indians' scoring in the third quarter with 42-yard scamper that put Jackson ahead 28-7. Flint also converted a two-point conversion run after his first score just four minutes into the game that put Jackson up 8-0.

The second quarter opened with a bang when Indian quarterback Justin Keen connected with Travis Wilson for a 33-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-0.

Todd Wessel put the Indians ahead 21-0 with a 26-yard run, culminating a six-play, 65-yard drive. Keen added the extra-point kick.

Hannibal finally got on the board in the final minute of the half, ending a long with a 30-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-7 at halftime.

Hannibal had the ball to start the second half, but the Indians recovered a fumble near midfield and two plays later Flint scored his second TD. Keen's kick made it 28-7.

Hannibal added a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, but the Indians held on from there for a comfortable victory.
