PACIFIC -- The Jackson boys soccer team burned the Pacific High team on their own turf Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 victory.
Joey Weber and Pat Kohm each had two goals. Justine Vines and Noah Reese chipped in with one a piece. Matt Gordon, Pat Kohm and Noah Reese all contributed one assist.
After being blanked themselves in their last outing, coach Bonnie Nolan was pleased with the scoring output.
"We finally had our offense going," said Nolan. "Hopefully that's a good start for us."
Jackson improved its record to 4-5-2.
Indian goalie Brian Sander earned the shutout.
Cape Central 3, Fulton 0
ST. LOUIS -- The Cape Central soccer team improved to 6-5 on the season by defeating Fulton at the St. Louis Soccer Complex.
The Tigers, playing on artificial turf, jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Brett McNabb scored a free kick with about two minutes left in the first half.
The second goal was scored by Cody Hill on an assist by Andrew Christensen and Justin Shelby scored the third goal on an assist by Chris Cole.
Central's junior varsity also won 3-0.
The Tigers will play in the Jefferson City Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Jackson Invitational
JACKSON -- Jackson and Kelly each lost their first games and dropped out of bracket play, but went on to win their respective pools in the Jackson Invitational Softball Tournament Saturday.
Cor Jesu won the tournament by defeating Vienna, Ill 8-2 in the championship game.
Jackson (14-7) dropped its first game to Vienna 9-8, then beat St. Louis Notre Dame 5-4, downed Fox 6-0 and clobbered East Carter 13-2.
The Lady Indians won the Fox game on a no-hitter by Gretchen King.
King won two games on the day, while hurler Beth Becker won one and lost one.
Jackson beat St. Louis Notre Dame 5-4 on a squeeze bunt laid by Megan Kuntze in the bottom of the sixth.
The Lady Indians committed seven errors in their loss to Vienna.
Hannibal defeated Lutheran South 2-1 in the third-place game; Goreville took fifth with a 6-3 win over Lafayette. Perryville suffered a 7-6 loss to St. Clair in the sixth-place game.
Kelly won its pool by defeating Cape Girardeau Notre Dame, Seckman and Cape Central.
