JACKSON, Mo. -- The Jackson High baseball team has lost some extremely close games this season, including three by one run last week when the opposition scored in the bottom of the final inning each time.

But the Indians took no chances Tuesday afternoon as they routed visiting Charleston 15-3. The contest was stopped after the top of the fifth inning by the 10-run mercy rule.

"We needed this one," said Jackson coach Sam Sides, whose squad improved to 4-7. "We've lost some tough games. We've been close, but we just haven't been playing well enough to win."
