The Jackson boys basketball team ran through the entire 2004 portion of the 2004-05 season without suffering a loss in 12 games.

The Indians didn't get through the first week of this season before taking a loss, 47-35 to Doniphan on Saturday in the championship game of the Farmington tournament.

The Dons built a double-digit lead in the first half and then utilized the clock to keep the Indians under 40 points.

"They played well, and they kind of spread the floor and held the ball," Jackson coach Darrin Scott said of the Dons. "They've got five guys who can pass, shoot and dribble. They did a good job taking care of the basketball and used their quicknesss against our size."

Nervous ND

Notre Dame needed overtime to beat Meadow Heights 77-72 for the Woodland tournament championship on Friday night.

"The kids were real nervous," Notre Dame coach Paul Hale said. "Maybe we'll play better at home."

That opportunity for the Bulldogs (2-0) comes Friday against Fredericktown. They go to Dexter first tonight.

Hale also credited the Panthers (3-2), who made eight 3-pointers.

"Meadow Heights played pretty well," Hale said. "We just couldn't stop their penetration. They're a good team.

"But we hit some big free throws."
