The Jackson baseball team remained undefeated by breaking open a one-run game with a nine-run seventh inning en route to an 11-3 victory at Chaffee.

Jackson (6-0) recorded six of its eight hits in the seventh inning.

Joel Penrod notched the win, allowing four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four. Kyle Brown finished up for his second save.

Rex Meyer was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Jackson.

Chris Hanback had two hits for Chaffee.

Saxony Lutheran's first-year program picked up its second win, a six-inning triumph over host Joppa, Ill.

Casey Petzoldt pitched five innings of one-hit ball for the victory, and he also had a three-run inside-the-park homer among his two hits.

Peter Winningham had three doubles for the Crusaders (2-1), while John Volkerding added three hits.

Junior Austin Hahs lined a two-out, bases-loaded single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and lift Oak Ridge to a home victory.

Hahs also picked up the win in relief of starter Austin Morrison. Hahs took over in the seventh and allowed one hit and struck out a batter. Morrison allowed just three hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked one.

Morrison and Hahs each had two hits for Oak Ridge (2-2).

Bell City (2-0) led just 5-2 game after four innings but scored 11 runs over the next two innings to ensure a win on the road.

Cody Bailey picked up the win on the mound and finished with five RBIs on two doubles. D.D. Gillespie added three hits and three RBIs. Kerry Lasters and Garrett McIntyre had two hits apiece. Nick Niemczyk added three RBIs.

Jake Gillis delivered an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 12-12 tie and lift Woodland past visiting Meadow Heights.

Gillis, winning pitcher Anthony Grojean and Josh Foster each had two hits and three RBIs for the Cardinals (2-1).

Terry Wagner led the Panthers with three hits.

Andy Stephens struck out eight in a complete game. Stephens scattered nine hits and walked two.

Phillip Buerck had a solo home run for Perryville.

Destiny Dirnberger, Danielle Schumer and Lauren Mehner scored for the Bulldogs (3-2-1). Meridith Medlin added an assist.

Laura Muir had 12 saves in goal.

Jackson had eight players score in a home win which went just one half.

Lauren Drewett led the Indians (4-1) with three goals. Molly Hartmann, Lucy Hartmann, Shea Priester, Randi Kraust, Hannah Kohm, Leslie Gordon and Erin Curtis added goals. Molly Hartmann, Priester, Kohm, Drewitt and Rebecca Richbourg had assists.

Kylie Werner recorded the shutout.

SOFTBALL Leopold 17, Bell City 2, 4 innings

Lori VanderMierden had four hits and drove in five runs, as Leopold put away Bell City in four innings at home.

Desiree Arnzen had three hits, and Amber Nenninger added a home run for Leopold. VanderMierden had a triple and two doubles in her 4-for-4 day.

Mary Beth Bohnsack picked up the win for the Wildcats (3-1), allowing three hits to start the game and then shutting down the Cubs for the rest of the afternoon.
