Austin McDowell allowed just four hits as Jackson evened its record with a 4-2 road victory over Scott City in baseball Wednesday.
Jackson (10-10) broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the second off losing pitcher Seth Ward.
Ward, making his first start of the season, allowed just six Jackson hits.
Jason Schenimann went 2-for-3 for Scott City (1-14). McDowell went 2-for-4 for Jackson, and Jason Meystedt added a double.
Central 10, Festus 4
John Thies pitched a complete game to pick up his sixth win for Central on the road.
Thies allowed six hits and two earned runs, struck out nine and walked three. Thies also came up big with the bat, going 3-for-3 with two doubles. Chris Conrad added three hits, and Mark Dunnaway had two for Central (16-9).
The Tigers JV team won 9-0 behind a two-hitter from Tyrone Reece. Corey Huskey had three hits for Central and Zack Hudson had two.
Oran 13, Hayti 2
The Eagles pounded out five home runs and 15 hits on the road.
Ryne Wood led Oran's (16-2) offense with a 2-for-4 game, including two home runs and seven RBIs.
Trey Graviett, Tyler Cookson and Joey Bickings added home runs. Graviett was 3-for-4. Cookson, Bickings and Brandon Dirnberger added two hits apiece.
Wood pitched all six innings for his fifth win.
Bell City 10, Scott County Central 1
Ben Duncan capped off an offensive surge from Bell City with a home run in the seventh inning of a road win.
Bell City (12-4) put up five runs in the final inning. Darrell Bailey (4-1) picked up the win, going 3-for-4. Duncan also went 3-for-4.
Ty Brown and Kerry Lasters were also 2-for-3.
St. Vincent 5, Oak Ridge 1
Alex Armbruster struck out the first 12 batters he faced and 16 in all as St. Vincent won on the road.
Armbruster allowed one hit in six shutout innings. The Indians only managed four hits off Oak Ridge (3-11) starter Austin Morrison, but took advantage of four Blue Jay errors.
SOFTBALL
Delta 9, Chaffee 0
Sarah M. Cook pitched a complete-game shutout to lead Delta at home.
The Bobcats (12-2) scored four runs in the second to grab the early lead and limited Chaffee (10-4) to four hits. Ashley Martin and Ashley Elliot had three hits and two RBIs apiece for Delta.
Cook and Rebecca Cook had two hits apiece.
TRACK AND FIELD
Kelly Invitational
Scott City swept the Kelly Invitational with a big performance by Loren Groves and Christy and Angie Laxton.
Groves won the shot put, discus and both hurdle events. Christy Laxton won the 1,600 and 800, and Angie Laxton won the 3,200 and finished second in the 1,600. Jennifer Vandeven won the 100, 200 and 400 for Chaffee. Chaffee's Natalie Townsend was a multiple winner with wins in the triple and long jumps.
On the boys side, the Rams cruised past second-place Kelly. Kelly's Tyson Glaser swept the 100, long jump, triple jump and pole vault. Chaffee's Brandon Davis won the 110 and 300 hurdles.
GIRLS SOCCER
Jackson 7, Perryville 1
Jackson improved to 18-2-1 with a win at home.
Molly Hartmann scored five goals and had one assist. Katie Domian and Whitney Dietl each had a goal. Dietl also recorded an assist.
Ashley Riney scored Perryville's goal.
Jackson (18-2-1) has won six straight.
Central 3, Poplar Bluff 0
In a possible preview of Monday's district opener, Central shut out visiting Poplar Bluff in its final regular season game.
Allie McGinty opened scoring for the Tigers (13-9) with a goal in the 29th minute. Megan McDonald added a goal in the second half, and Stephanie White finished the scoring on a corner kick goal from Julie Underwood. Megan Kistner made seven saves for the shutout.
St. Vincent 2, St. Pius 0
Caitlin Hoeh scored both goals to push the Squaws past St. Pius.
Hoeh finished the regular season with 33 goals for St. Vincent (15-8). Chelsey Brown and Amanda Carron had assists. Michelle Herzog made nine saves for her eighth shutout.
St. Vincent's JV team tied St. Pius 1-1.
