Results of Monday's MRI on Tim Scheer's injured knee won't be available until today at the earliest, but it's a virtual certainty that Southeast Missouri State University's senior forward will miss this week's final two home games at the very least.
Scheer, the Indians' second-leading scorer at 13.1 points per game and the Ohio Valley Conference's second-best 3-point shooter at 43 percent, suffered the injury late in the first half of Saturday's loss at Murray State. He did not return.
While Southeast coach Gary Garner does not want to speculate on Scheer's status until MRI results are available, Scheer is questionable at best for the remainder of the season, which is in its final two weeks.
"It's a shame that Tim got hurt, but we really don't want to speculate about the extent of the injury at this point," Garner said. "You just hope for the best for Tim's sake."
The Indians host Western Illinois tonight and Austin Peay Saturday night, then close out the regular season next week with two road games, against Tennessee Tech Feb. 27 and Tennessee State March 1. Southeast will also have a first-round Ohio Valley Conference Tournament game on the road March 4.-- Marty Mishow
