Postseason success may have alluded St. Vincent's football team this season, but that did not stop senior Waylon Richardet from receiving plenty of postseason honors.

Richardet, who was already named Mississippi Area Football Conference Blue Division MVP, was named first-team all-state for the second straight year today by the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Overall, the 6-foot-2, 225 pound senior linebacker finished second in tackles for the Indians with 81 and led St. Vincent with six sacks. Richardet also added two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

On offense, Richardet led the team in rushing with 793 yards on 144 carries, caught 13 passes for 231 yards and finished with 16 touchdowns. Richardet also averaged 37 yards a punt in 27 attempts.

St. Vincent finished 7-3 after winning the Class 1 state title in 2004. The Indians fell in the district playoffs to Valle.

The SEMO Conference was filled with talented running backs this season, which showed in the all-state picks with three selections.

Caruthersville junior Kendrickus Reed and East Prairie junior Paris Tipler each made first-team in Class 2. Reed rushed for more than 2,000 yards this season, and Tipler finished with more than 1,700 yards rushing and 31 touchdowns.

Carr Trophy winner Alex Becker, a senior at Dexter, was a second-team all-state running back in Class 3. Becker finished with more than 1,600 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns.

The Class 4, 5 and 6 all-state teams will be released on Wednesday.
