ST. LOUIS -- The Jackson High girls basketball team suffered just its second loss of the season Monday as the Lady Indians fell to Incarnate Word 47-43 in a battle of state-ranked teams at the King Holiday Shootout at Maryville University.
Jackson, ranked fifth in Class 4A, saw its record dip to 9-2. Incarnate Word, No. 7 in Class 3A, improved to 12-2.
"It was a good game," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "One of their guards (Andrea Hoffman) really hurt us. We let her get open and she shot the ball well."
Hoffman hit five 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points.
Jackson got 15 points from Jenna Leet and 13 from Andrea Koeper.
The Lady Indians started strong and led 17-11 after one quarter. But they were outscored 16-6 in the second period to fall behind 27-23 at halftime. Jackson trailed 40-32 entering the fourth quarter.
"We got off to a good start, but the second quarter hurt us," Cook said.
Kelly 49, Scott City 34
BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly continued its sensational season as the Lady Hawks moved to 13-1 with a 15-point victory.
Bridgett Riley was Kelly's only double-figure scorer as she pumped in 20 points. Scott City (8-6) got 17 points from freshman Loren Groves.
The Lady Hawks trailed 12-11 after one quarter but outscored the Lady Rams 14-3 in the second period to grab a 25-15 halftime lead. They held a 12-9 edge in each of the final two quarters.
"The girls are playing real well," said Kelly coach Rod McQuerter.
Perryville 63, Herculaneum 32
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Stacy Baer tallied 19 points and Natalie Bohnert added 15 as Perryville remained undefeated in the Jefferson County Conference.
The Lay Pirates, who evened their season record at 7-7, improved to 3-0 in the conference.
Perryville broke out to a 16-9 lead in the first quarter, held a comfortable 40-21 lead at halftime, and held a 20-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter.
Hillsboro 53, St. Vincent 31
HILLSBORO, Mo. -- St. Vincent fell to 3-8 as the Squaws suffered a 22-point defeat.
Danielle Sutterer scored 13 points and Danielle Schremp added 11 for the Squaws, who trailed just 18-16 at halftime but were blown out in the second half.

Scott-Miss Tournament
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Scott City and Delta posted first-round victories as the annual Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament got under way.
Second-seeded Scott City destroyed No. 7 East Prairie 69-31 while No. 6 Delta knocked off No. 3 and host Chaffee 59-50 in overtime. The Red Devils are depleted after the recent suspensions of area scoring leader Matt Stroup and G.P. Glueck.
The opening round concludes tonight at No. 4 Scott County Central plays No. 5 Kelly at 8. Top-seeded Oran received a bye and advances into Thursday's semifinals.
Scott City (9-5) got 18 points and 13 rebounds from Nick Steimle. Ben Sample added 15 points, D.J. Walton had 11 and Ricky Keller added 10.
The Rams led just 17-15 after one quarter but broke the game open with a 21-2 second-period advantage to go up 38-17 at halftime.
Delta (7-7) was paced by Troy Nussbaum and Joey Keys with 16 points each while Craig Bock added 10. Chaffee (4-6) received 24 points from Chase Eskew and 11 from Perry Rice.
The Bobcats led 18-12 at halftime and 32-23 after three periods, but the Red Devils forced overtime at 45-45 with a 22-13 edge in the fourth quarter. Delta then outscored Chaffee 14-5 in the extra period.
In the JV portion of the tourney, Kelly swamped East Prairie 53-20 and Chaffee downed Delta 41-33.
St. Vincent 69, Leopold 62, OT
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent improved to 9-3 but it certainly wasn't easy as the Indians had to rally to force overtime before outscoring the Wildcats 15-8 in the extra session.
The Indians, ahead 26-19 at halftime, fell behind 41-35 entering the fourth quarter. They rallied to forge a 54-54 tie by the end of regulation.
Tyler Wengert scored 22 points for the Indians, who got 15 from Wes Richardet and 11 from Mark Gotto.
Daniel Schaab of Leopold led all scorers with 25 points and Ashton James added 12.
