The Cape Central girls swim team broke two longstanding records en route to a fifth-place finish at the Kirkwood Invitational on Saturday, winning 221 points and finishing above nine other in-state teams.

Central’s Emilie Dickson won the 200-yard individual medley, breaking the school record set in 1996 at the state competition by Erin Vogt and finishing with a 2:10.11 time to narrowly edge out a Parkway West swimmer for the win.

Tommy-Anne Marriott finished first out of 32 divers to take gold in diving, with a score of 442.45 in the final, edging out two Lafayette divers in second and third place.

The 200-yard free relay team consisting of Addison Ringwald, Emilie Dickson, Bella Pattengill and Sydney Ringwald broke another school record previously set at the 1996 state meet, albeit finishing just short of the win in second place.

Lastly, Sydney Ringwald finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke despite breaking the school record previously set by Ava Duncan in 2020.
