The Chaffee baseball bounced back from a 27-0 no-hit loss suffered Wednesday by picking up its first win of the season -- a 14-12 home victory Thursday against previously unbeaten Poplar Bluff.

Poplar Bluff (3-1) scored five times in the top of the first, but Chaffee (1-4) roared back with 11 runs in the bottom of the frame.

"It was nice to see our kids battle back," Chaffee coach Brian Horrell said. "It's been a long time coming."

Chris Hanback went the distance for Chaffee, allowing 11 hits. He struck out nine and walked four.

Augi Orr, Brad Daugherty and Jeremy Penrose each went 2-for-4 for Chaffee, which had 10 hits overall.

Oak Ridge 5, Delta 4

Oak Ridge won its first game of the season, beating Delta at home.

The Bluejays trailed 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Austin Hahs hit a triple with the bases loaded. Pitcher Austin Morrison followed with a triple of his own to tie the score.

Morrison allowed three hits and two walks while striking out15.

Delta pitcher Cody Crowden allowed only five hits and struck out 12.

Delta played its first game after two rainouts and won at Oak Ridge.

Sarah Cook was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and pitched a one-hitter while allowing no earned runs. Jenny Dannenmueller also had two hits and three RBIs.

Chelsey Marr had a hat trick, and Chasity Marr made three saves in her second straight shutout as Perryville defeated Fredericktown at home.

Amber Hacker had a goal and two assists for the Pirates (2-0), and Kendra Schilli scored a goal and had an assist as well. Chris Shemp dished out two assists, and Ashley Riney and Brittany Davis each scored a goal. Megan Blechle, Jocelyn Molll and Katie Fulton each had an assist.

St. Vincent 4, Pacific 1

Five freshmen -- starters Brooke Brown, Sara Moll, Lacey Siegmund, Jessica Welker and first sub and Kelci Cissell -- all contributed to a victory for St. Vincent (3-2) at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Complex in Fenton, Mo.

"The freshmen are pretty talented players," St. Vincent coach Eric Long said. "They have played a lot together, and they are learning how to play together with the returning girls on the team. They are adapting quickly. I thought these were the types of wins that we might get later in the season."

Brooke Brown had two goals and assisted on a goal by Welker, while Siegmund had two assists. Cissell assisted on one goal, and senior Stacy Brown scored a goal.

"This was definitely our best game of the season so far," Long said. "In the first four games, we would have one good half and one bad half. This is the first time we have controlled play for 80 minutes."

GIRLS SWIMMING Central 110, Poplar Bluff 57

Central improved to 4-0 by winning at Poplar Bluff.

The Tigers won first place in every event and added a second- or third-place finish in all but two events.

Diving did not take place due to the depth of the pool.

Central is in action Saturday in the City of Roses meet at Central Municipal Pool.

GIRLS TRACK Seckman meet

The Perryville girls track team placed fifth in the 11-team Seckman track meet on Tuesday. Brittney Castleberry was first in the 100-meter dash (12.31 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (51.67) and second in the 100 hurdles (16.96).

JV -- Perryville placed third of 11 teams. Cassie Lawrence was first in the triple jump (29-4) and third in the long jump and pole vault.

* The Central junior high boys and girls track teams both placed first in a three-team meet with Poplar Bluff and Sikeston.
