High school roundup: Woodland softball opens season with win

Kathlyn Cooper belted a triple and a double to lead the Woodland softball team to a season-opening 6-4 victory over host Advance on Monday.

Josie Long earned the win in the circle. She gave up seven walks and recorded five strikeouts.

Shelby Sawyer and Whitney Lincoln each hit a double for Woodland (1-0).

Hannah Clark clubbed three doubles to pace the Hornets. She also suffered the loss in the circle, striking out six and walking one.

Kimsey Lillard also had a double for Advance (0-1).
