Neil Johnson smashed a three-run homer in the first inning as he helped Woodland jump ahead early and beat Richland 16-5 in five innings Wednesday.

Johnson went 2-for-4 with five RBIs while teammate David Gray stroked two hits and knocked in one run.

Martin Williams earned his first victory on the mound. He went the distance, striking out seven batters.

Woodland (4-10) will host Advance today.

Jackson senior Adam Zweigart ran to victory in the 100 and 200. He also helped the 800 relay team finish second.

Senior Blake Peiffer took first in the discus and second in the shot put.

On the girls side, Jill Rushin broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 10 inches for the victory. She also won the discus.
