Woodland recovered from four errors and a grand slam in the first inning to defeat Kelly 8-6 in high school baseball action Monday in Marble Hill, Mo.
After Ryan Rolwing made the Cardinals pay for their early errors with a grand slam, the Cardinals rebounded with eight runs over the next three innings.
Neil Johnson got the Cardinals on the board in the first with a leadoff home run, and Dillon Miller hit a three-run double in a five-run second.
Jeff Gates and Dustin Crowden had triples for Kelly (0-4).
Justin James had two of Kelly's five hits.
Miller went 2-for-2 for Woodland (2-2).
Jesse Long pitched 6 1/3 innings and recorded the win. He struck out four, walked three and allowed two earned runs. Johnson obtained the final two outs for the save.

With Chaffee leading 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Quinton Stevens hit a three-run home run to lift Bernie to a one-run road victory.
Jake Owens also hit a home run for the Mules.

Leopold's Mallory James hit a grand slam, triple and a double as the Wildcats split a wild doubleheader with Meadow Heights.
Both teams scored 25 runs in the split.
James hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh of the opener. Leopold (2-2) scored five runs in the inning but still fell a run short.
James, who had a total of six hits in the two games, had a triple and a double in the second game, which the Wildcats won by a run.
Emily Elfrink and Elizabeth Elfrink both added six hits for the Wildcats. Shelby Miller had five hits on the day and Taylor Eftink had four,
Erin Bollmann had five hits for Meadow Heights (4-1).

Caleb Streiler led Perryville with a 51.
