All the local high school events reported Thursday to the Southeast Missourian.

Josie Long netted 20 points and snagged 10 rebounds to lead the Woodland girls basketball team to a 45-35 victory against visiting Perryville on Thursday night.

Lindsay Shell recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds for Woodland (13-4), while Kathlyn Cooper had 11 rebounds.

Natalie Gremaud led the Pirates with 13 points and nine rebounds. Desiree Brown added 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Brooke Moll had 10 rebounds for Perryville (10-7).

Shelby Beussink scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the top-seeded Bulldogs cruised to a win over No. 8 Northwest Academy of Law in the first round of the Queen of Hearts Tournament at Villa Duchesne High School in suburban St. Louis.

Annie Siebert added 11 rebounds and recorded four steals for Notre Dame (13-3). Miranda Fowler had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Karsen Powers dished out six assists.

Nichelle Patton paced the Hornets with 16 points.

Notre Dame will play either No. 4 Metro Academic and Classical or No. 5 Lutheran North at 7 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Jackson swimmers touched the wall first in six events to win a three-team meet at the Southeast Missouri State Aquatics Center.

Jenny Powell and Caitlin Palmer both were double winners for the Indians in individual events and also swam legs on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Powell won the 100 and 200 freestyles, while Palmer won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
