There were no surprises during Monday's first round of action in the Scott-Mississippi Conference girls basketball tournament as the top four seeds easily advanced to Thursday's semifinals at Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, Missouri.

Top-seeded Chaffee coasted in its 64-29 rout of eighth-seeded Scott City as the Red Devils defeated the Rams for the third time this season. Julia Sutterfield led Chaffee with 22 points and seven assists, while Jordan Pruitt and Carleigh Burnett netted 10 points apiece. Lindsey Harrell grabbed eight rebounds and Mary Beth Knutson had seven for the Red Devils.

Anna Kern scored 11 points to pace Scott City (0-10).

Chaffee will play Oran at 5:30 p.m. in Thursday's first semifinal. The Eagles romped fifth-seeded Delta 51-13 in Monday's final quarterfinal of the evening. Allie Cummins scored 14 points and notched five rebounds and three steals, while Brianna Stause added 11 points and five rebounds for Oran (8-2). Ashlyn McIntosh had 10 points and five rebounds for the Eagles and Hannah Scherer snagged six rebounds.

Kiley Wicker had six points to pace Delta (3-8).

In the bottom half of the bracket, second-seeded host Kelly defeated seventh-seeded East Prairie 53-25 for the third time this season. Kristi Brucker had a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and also had six steals to lead the Hawks. Tessa Johnson scored a game-high 16 points for Kelly.

Dakota Arnold scored 12 points for East Prairie (1-9).

Kelly (8-4) will take on third-seeded Charleston in Thursday's second semifinal at 7 p.m. The Bluejays thumped sixth-seeded Scott County Central 63-35 to advance. Cheyenne Randle led Charleston (8-2) with 19 points, while Sierra Frazier added 16 points and Juwanna Walker tossed in 15 points.

Johneisha Daniel netted 16 points to pace the Bravettes (2-11).

Emma Cook scored a game-high 27 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had eight steals to help lead the Panthers to a road victory against the winless Bearcats.

The score was tied 23-23 at halftime, but the Panthers outscored Lesterville in both the third and fourth quarters.

Kiana Hotop tallied 14 points and dished out five assists for Meadow Heights (5-10).

D.J. Hankins netted a game-high 37 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Bulldogs won at home in a high-scoring game that featured three players with more than 30 points.

"We've been playing pretty good ball lately," Zalma coach Bryant Fernetti said. "I think a night like tonight will be good for our team in general beating a team like Puxico."

The Bulldogs led by nine points at halftime before a determined Indians squad outscored the Bulldogs by four points in the second half.

Brent Overbey added 31 points for Zalma (6-6).

Zack Tucker sank 34 points to pace Puxico (7-6). Seth Luttrull netted 18 points and Levi Woods tossed in 13 points for the Indians.

Ryan Palmer netted 10 points for Saxony Lutheran (7-7). Paris Johnson grabbed eight rebounds and Chase Steffens dished out five assists.

Ryan Ruess led New Athens (7-10) with 12 points, and Drew Ragland added 10 points.

Saxony will face Valle Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a semifinal. The Warriors (9-2) downed Cobden (Ill.) 72-52 in Monday's first quarterfinal.
