SIKESTON — Kennett High School girls tennis player Christi Tejeda competed for the first time Thursday in the Sikeston Invitational on Thursday.
Tejeda’s season was delayed, in part, due to participating in military basic training over the summer at Fort Leonard Wood.
She reached the championship match in the singles draw before falling to Vita Galati of Cape Notre Dame Regional, 8-5.
Kennett’s Claire Bean and Handley McAtee claimed the doubles title, doling out a bagel to Notre Dame’s Erika West and Mary Cox. Olivia Rebstock also fared well for the Indians — taking fourth in singles.
