Shae Simmons turned in a masterful performance to lead Scott City's baseball team past Chaffee on Thursday.
Simmons, who already signed to play at Southeast Missouri State next season, struck out 17 and allowed one hit in the Rams' 2-0 home victory.
"It was a pretty good ballgame," Chaffee coach Brian Horrell said. "Simmons is pretty tough on the mound."
Scott City's Austin Raines went 2-for-3, while Jake Campbell drove in a run in the win.

Jackson 5, Sikeston 0
The Indians' pitching tandem of Travis Hurst and Zach McDowell silenced the Bulldogs.
The starter Hurst threw the first five innings, giving up three hits, while striking out five and walking six. McDowell shut down things in the final two innings, striking out two and allowing no hits.
"We had way too many strikeouts today," Sikeston coach Kevin Self said. "I tip my hat to both Jackson pitchers today. They had good stuff and we had a hard time figuring it out. We just did not produce offensively and score."
Jackson coach Rob French was pleased with Hurst's outing.
"Travis did a really good job of bouncing back today," French said. "He put himself in situations with some walks today, but the defense was able to make some plays for him.
"The big thing for him today was when he got down, he fought his way out of it by striking some guys out. That is something we, as a team, haven't done a lot of so far this year. He stepped up when he needed to today."
Tyler Qualls and Michael Mouser doubled in the win.
"This will be a momentum boost for us," French said. "We play some tough nonconference schools early in the season. When we can come back into conference play and get a road win against a good conference opponent like Sikeston, we have to feel good about that."
