It took two overtimes but the Class 3 state-ranked Saxony Lutheran Crusaders girls basketball team managed to keep its undefeated streak alive with a 54-52 win over the Class 2 state-ranked Neelyville Tigers in a hard-fought battle on Saturday at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.

Neelyville held an 11-point lead at halftime before the Crusaders rallied and erased the lead to a stalemate, forcing overtime.

Brianna Mueller busted a game-high 32 points and dished out four assists to help propel Saxony Lutheran to victory. Raegan Wieser netted 14 points and snagged five rebounds as the Crusaders improved to 21-0. Maddie Brune grabbed seven rebounds, Tess Daniel had four assists and Ali Galemmo tallied three steals for Saxony.

Neelyville's Shelby Moon scored a team-high 22 points to pace Neelyville.

Seckman's Chelsea Canania sank a game-high 22 points to lead the seventh-seeded Jaguars to the consolation championship of the 34th Annual Hillsboro Invitational Tournament in an upset of the fifth-seeded Tigers.

Marissa Jeske added 18 points for Seckman (4-14), which outscored Central 16-3 in the final period to pull away for the victory.

Kassidy Pannier paced the Tigers (6-11) with 12 points, all from behind the arc.

Emma Nelson sank a game-high 18 points and recorded five rebounds and three steals to lead the Pirates to victory over the Indians in a crosstown showdown at the Perry Park Center in Perryville.

The Pirates held the Indians to single-digit scoring in every quarter and sailed away with the win thanks to a big fourth-quarter finish.

Kylie Bilek netted 15 points and tallied four rebounds and four assists for Perryville (7-10). Ahnie Hoff added 10 points, eight steals and seven rebounds for the Pirates.

Kylie Baer and Faith Kapp had seven points each to pace St. Vincent (6-11).

Jamie Hodge nailed a game-high 18 points to lead the Bobcats to victory over the winless Bearcats at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.

A strong first quarter in which the Bobcats posted what the Bearcats would end up scoring the whole game proved key to the Bobcats' victory, who only had five players on their bench during the game.

Meagan Parker netted nine points for Delta (6-10).

Springfield Invitational

Central junior Josey Powell finished with a sixth-place time of 5 minutes, 48.70 seconds in the 500 freestyle to receive a medal and helped propel the Tigers in the Springfield Invitational, which was held over the weekend at the Natatorium in Springfield, Missouri.

Central finished in a distant 16th place in the two-day tournament that featured over 20 teams, including defending state champion Glendale, which continued its winning ways by clinching first place in the meet. The Falcons edged Lafayette of Wildwood by 20 points to take first.

Poplar Bluff won the 200 medley relay as the Mules finished sixth overall in the team standings. Senior Cassidy Harris won second place in two events, and freshman Taylor Norwood took the silver in the 100 butterly to pace Poplar Bluff. Harris and Norwood also set state-qualifying times in the Friday Fights. Harris set her state-qualifying fourth-place time of 25.46 seconds in the 50 freestyle. Norwood posted two state qualifiers, both of which were first-place times, in the 100 butterfly (59.75 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:01.89). Sophomore Morgan McAtee also set a state qualifier with a first-place time of 1 minute, 12:39 seconds in the 100 breaststroke during Friday's action.
