The Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team had no answer for Eli Sample in the Crystal City tournament championship game Friday.

The Crystal City senior scored 40 points to lead the Hornets past the Crusaders 80-51.

Nick Johnson led Saxony Lutheran (2-1) with 13 points, while Trent Steffens added 10.

Crystal City jumped out to a 15-point lead after one quarter. It hit 87 percent (20 of 23) of its free throws in the game.

St. Vincent defeated Ste. Genevieve 62-57 to snare third place in the tournament.

Mark Kutz led the Indians (2-1) with 21 points, while Tim Schumer added 15 points.

Sean Martin had 10 points in the win.

Karson King had 21 points, while Braxton McDowell had 11 points to lead the Indians.
