All the local high school events reported Saturday to the Southeast Missourian.

The Jefferson baseball team routed host Saxony Lutheran 15-1 in the championship game of the Saxony Lutheran Crusader Showdown on Saturday.

Chase Steffens suffered the loss on the mound for Saxony Lutheran (4-4).

The beating came after the Crusaders had posted a pair of its own routs in the tournament.

Saxony had beat Calvary Lutheran 20-1 earlier in the day after thumping Egyptian 23-1 on Friday.

Paris Johnson slammed a triple against Calvary to help the Crusaders into the championship match.

Ethan Mirly recorded the win on the mound with 10 strikeouts and four walks.

Gabe Bohnert belted a triple and a double and drove in four runs to lead the Crusaders in the five-inning win over Egyptian in the first round.

Ethan Mirly added a double and also had four RBIs for the Crusaders, while Clayton Fritsche and Jack Lake each hit a triple.

Chase Steffens was the winning pitcher.

Meridian (Ill.) defeated Calvary Lutheran for third place. Leopold triumped over Egyptian (Ill.) for consolation.

Zach Carlyle also had a double, while winning pitcher Levi Petitt had two hits.

Scott City rallied from a five-run deficit but saw Malden plate the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in a game played in Portageville, Mo.

Ryan Fortner had a a triple for the Rams, who fell to 6-2. Travis Phillips had two of Scott City's six hits.

Ryan Brock took the loss in relief of Jonathan McFall, who pitched the first five innings.

Cody Johnson piched five hitless innings and helped himself with a triple as the Red Devils won at home to win their own four-team round robin tournament.

Cody Payne added three hits, including a double, while Storm Estes had two hits for Chaffee (12-3).

Nathan Carroll had two hits for St. Vincent, while Zach Rollet had a double.

The loss to the Red Devils was St. Vincent's only loss in the tournament. The Indians swept Puxico 12-0 and defeated Meadow Heights 11-8 to take second place. The Panthers rolled over Puxico 11-8 to place third.

Laban Petzoldt and Cody Harris both had a double in the Indians' win over the Hawks at Wilson-Rozier Park in Farmington, Mo.

Petzoldt, Kyle James and Ryan O'Rear all finished with two hits for Jackson (8-3).

Collin Herzog did not allow an earned run and only four hits in going all seven innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Central dropped a pair of matches on the road in suburban St. Louis.

TRACK AND FIELD

Jackson Invitational

Sierra Maddux set a new meet record of 11 feet in the pole vault to help Jackson's girls clinch first place in the Jackson Invitational on Saturday.

Maddux, along with teammate Paden Wachter, were named Outstanding Fielders. Wachter placed first in the discus and shot put for the Indians. Zhao Ni Dirnberger posted a first-place time of 12:47.56 in the 3,200 run to help advance Jackson to the title.

The Notre Dame girls finished third overall behind Hillsboro. Ariel Dumars, Taylor Hess, Madison Little and Edie Salter took second in the 1,600 relay to pace the Bulldogs.

The Central girls placed first in two relays as the Tigers finished sixth overall.

Saxony Lutheran's Tess Daniel crossed the line in 12.74 seconds to clinch the gold in the 100 dash for the Crusaders.

Arcadia Valley's Sara Barzowski and Dexter's MaKayla Waldner were named Outstanding Runners.

On the boys' side, Notre Dame's Seth Sievers placed first in the discus and the shot put to be named Outstanding Fielder as the Bulldogs received third place overall. Jordan Barber posted a first-place time of 52.33 seconds in the 400 dash for Notre Dame.

Jackson's Gabe Underwood, Dylan Rush and Blake Reimann finished second in individual events to pace the Indians, who finished in fourth place overall behind Notre Dame.

Central was led by Billy Leighton, who posted a third-place time of 2:02.93 in the 800 dash for the Tigers, who finished 10th overall.

Farmington's Josh Thomas was named Outstanding Runner.

The combined awards were given to Jackson (first place), Notre Dame (second place) and Poplar Bluff (third place).

Jacob Lawrence and Reece Curre turned in first-place peformances for the Perryville boys at the Mineral Area Conference Invitational at Herculaneum.

Lawrence won the triple jump with an effort of 40 feet, three inches. Curre topped the field in the discus with a throw of 132 feet, 7 1/2 inches.
