All the local high school events reported Thursday to the Southeast Missourian.

Courtney Borden scored during the final minute of play to put the Perryville girls basketball team ahead for good in a see-saw battle, and the Pirates went on to defeat Hillsboro 42-40 at home Thursday night.

Borden, who finished with a team-high 10 points, hit a driving layup with about 40 seconds left to put the Pirates ahead 41-40. Allison Moldenhauer later added a free throw to provice the final socre.

Perryville improved to 6-9 with the win.

Perryville pulled out a one-point victory in a meet hosted by St. Vincent.

Perryville's Lauren Huett finished first in the 100 backstroke and set a team record in the 100 backstroke, while Ali Koening won the 100 breaststroke and set a team record in the 200 individual medley.

Perryville also placed first in the 200 medley relay, while Shelby Roth won the 200 freestyle and broke the school record in the process.

Senior Laura Steele led St. Vincent with wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

St. Vincent's Natalie King touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle and set a school record in the 400 freestyle.
