The Perryville football team opened its season with a home win over Sumner on Friday night.
The Pirates, who led 7-0 at halftime, gained 107 yards passing and 90 yards rushing in the contest.
Trevor Green threw two touchdown passes for Perryville and was intercepted once.
Scott City surrendered a touchdown with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter of a loss to Herculaneum at home on Friday night.
The Rams (0-1) opened the scoring with 2 minutes, 17 seconds left in the first quarter when sophomore quarterback Ty Wilthong completed an 11-yard pass to Austin Spriggs. Spriggs also caught the two-point conversion to give Scott City an 8-0 lead.
Herculaneum (1-0) answered with a touchdown in the second quarter on a 38-yard run from Tim Venable, but Scott City held an 8-6 lead at the half.
The Blackcats scored twice more in the third quarter, once on a 3-yard run and another time on a 60-yard return by Treston Byers. Venable added the two-point conversion on the second score.
Wilthong scored on a 1-yard run in the third for Scott City, setting up a back-and-fourth final quarter.
Herculaneum led 20-16 entering the frame and retook the lead on a 3-yard touchdown run by Jake Elders with 6:42 to go. The two-point conversion pass fell incomplete.
The Blackcats replied one more time with a touchdown that left Scott City with just 3:07 remaining on the clock.
Wlthong completed 11 of his 31 passes for 141 yards. Braden Cox caught four passes for 56 yards while Spriggs, who also had an interception, finished with four catches for 36 yards.
Caleb Sykes rushed 14 times for 105 yards for the Rams. Wilthong added 10 carries for 36 yards and Elders had six for 37 yards.
Elders also led the team in tackles with 10, while Dalton Goforth had nine.

Chaffee opened the season with a loss on the road.
The Red Devils trailed 12-0 at halftime and 20-0 entering the fourth quarter before scoring with 6 minutes, 36 seconds remaining in the game on a 1-yard touchdown run by Thomas Robbins.
Robbins, a senior, finished with 100 yards rushing on 19 carries while fellow senior Jake Perkins gained 43 yards on eight rushes.
The key to the game, however, was Chaffee's inability to slow down Grandview's rushing attack.
The Eagles rushed 52 times and gained 380 yards for an average of 7.3 yards per carry. They completed just 1 of 10 pass attempts for negative yardage.
Chaffee junior quarterback Jordan Wilburn completed 6 of 17 passes for 20 yards.
Perkins led Chaffee's defense with 13 tackles, and senior lineman Trevor Morehead had 10 tackles to go along with one sack.

Defending Class 1 state champion Valle Catholic shut out St. Vincent in the season openers for both teams.
St. Vincent will host Scott City next week when both teams try to earn their first win of the season.

Jordan Cliff scored the lone goal on an assist from Josh King in the Eagles' season-opening loss at home.
Goalkeeper Caleb Cerney grabbed three saves for Eagle Ridge (0-1).
Logan Frankie recorded seven kills as the Crusaders opened their season with a win over the Eagles (0-1) at home.
Raegan Wieser added three kills, two aces and one block for Saxony Lutheran (1-0). Jordan Hecht had nine assists and four kills, while Brianna Mueller tallied 11 assists and three aces for the Crusaders.
Morgan McGregor nailed five kills to lead the Bulldogs in their season-debut road victory over the Eagles.
Macey James dished out six assists for Zalma (1-0).
"It was a good win for us to be able to go up there and pick up a win before going into the Woodland Tournament," Zalma coach Dwyght Ford said.
Jenny Pullam and Elizabeth Burnett tallied three kills and one ace apiece for the Bulldogs.

Krystal James led with five kills as the Hornets picked up their first win of the season on the road over the Panthers (0-1).
Maddie Kennedy and Alanis Below each added four kills for Advance (1-0). Ashtyn Driskill tallied five digs and served two aces while Hannah Clark dished out nine assists for the Hornets.

The Tigers set three state-qualifying times and placed second in their season-opening meet at the Central Municipal Pool.
Freshman Brogan Davis recorded state-qualifying times in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke for Central. Davis also led the Tigers to victory in the 200 medley relay with a state-qualifying time of 1 minute, 45.58 seconds.
"Its exciting to have three state qualifying times in our first meet," Central coach Dayna Powell said. The Tigers did not post any state-qualifying times last season.

The Crusaders put an exclamation point on their season-opening win with a seven-run outburst in the top of the seventh inning.
Ashlynn Collier was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with three doubles to lead Saxony while Grace Mirly added two hits, including a two-run homer.
Natalie Schlimpert pitched the shutout for Saxony. She allowed five hits while striking out 12 and issuing no walks.
