Notre Dame sophomores Sarah Bell and Allison Bray placed second and third, respectively, at Monday's Class 1 Sectional 1 golf meet at Bent Creek Golf Course to qualify for next week's state tournament.
Bell finished four strokes behind MICDS sophomore Shannon Gould, who earned the medalist honors with a 1-over-par 73 to lead the Rams to first place. Bray followed with a 79 to pace the Bulldogs, who finished fourth in the team standings.
The top two teams and top 15 individuals qualified for the state tournament to be held Monday and Tuesday at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Missouri.

Marissa Worth had two hits and batted in two runs as the Hawks wrapped up the regular season on a high note with a road win.

Sicily Johnston took the loss in the circle for Jackson (12-13). She pitched five innings and gave up seven earned runs on eight hits. She had two strikeouts and walked two.

Emily Seiler recorded seven digs, five kills and two aces to lead the Wildcats in the conference victory at home.
Ashley Nussbaum tallied four kills and three blocks for Leopold (10-12, 4-0 Mississippi Valley Conference). Patience VanderMierden added nine assists, three aces and two digs for the Wildcats, who clinched the regular-season conference championship with the win.
Oak Ridge fell to 2-17 overall and finished 1-3 in the conference.

Allie Sprink nailed seven kills and served six aces to lead the Crusaders to a sweep on the road.
Claire Petzoldt served five aces for Saxony Lutheran (16-11-4). Brianna Mueller notched nine digs and seven assists, and Jordan Hecht added seven assists for the Crusaders.
Oran dropped to 6-12.
