It took two extra innings, but the Notre Dame softball team remained undefeated with a 2-1, nine-inning victory over visiting Portageville on Tuesday.
Nikki Peters got the win in the circle. She pitched a complete game and had 10 strikeouts and no walks.
Anne Ziegler belted a triple and a double for Notre Dame (2-0).
Taylor Tiffany suffered the loss. She threw 8 2/3 innings for Portageville (1-1), giving up one earned run on three hits. She struck out 12 batters and walked three.
Tiffany also slugged a home run in the first inning for the Bulldogs' lone run.

Sydney Kern went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in one run as the Hawks won their home opener.
Kristi Brucker was the winning pitcher for Kelly (3-0). She went the distance and gave up one earned run on six hits with two strikeouts.
Shayna Tharp pitched a complete game and took the loss for Naylor (0-2). She recorded seven strikeouts and walked four.
Tharp also went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI.

Jackie Verseman had six kills to help the visiting Indians to a three-set victory.
Katie Verseman and Kassidy Kassel both added four kills for the Indians (2-0), while Kellie L'Hote recorded 20 assists.
Raegan Wieser paced Saxony Lutheran (3-3-2) with five kills, four blocks and 10 digs. Jordan Hecht also had five kills and four aces. Brianna Mueller finished with 11 assists, while Abigail Bergman recorded 12 digs.

Krista Rhodes hammered six kills and notched four digs as the Cardinals picked up a conference victory at home over the Indians (0-3).
Lexie King tallied five digs, three kills and two aces for Woodland (3-3-1), while Mackenzie Altenthal added seven blocks and three kills. Chelsea Cureton recorded eight digs and two aces, while Sydney Keith added five digs and Shelby Sawyer contributed three blocks and two aces.

Abbie McAlister had nine kills as Notre Dame recorded its first win of the season with a sweep of the Mules (1-1) at home.
Lydia Goodson added six kills for the Bulldogs (1-1). Sam Feeney collected 17 assists and Marianna Below led the defensive effort with 11 digs.

Notre Dame freshman Sarah Bell shot an even-par 70 to tie for third place individually at the Rockwood Summit Invitational at The Falls Golf Club in O'Fallon, Mo.
Fellow freshman Allison Bray tied for fifth with a 77 as the Bulldogs finished ninth among the 17 teams. Mattie Beussink (90) and Ashlee Younghouse (108) rounded out the Bulldogs' team score of 319.
Marquette won the team competition with a 319, finishing 11 strokes ahead of Ft. Zumwalt South.
Ft. Zumwalt South senior Amanda Kim earned the medalist honor with a sizzling 9-under-par 62.
