The Notre Dame softball team scored a combined five runs in the final three innings to come away with an 8-3, season-opening win over host Chaffee on Wednesday.
Lily Dohogne and Lindsay Elfrink each finished 2 for 4 with a double to lead the Bulldogs (1-0) at the plate, while Maddie Urhahn and Christina Scherer each added a pair of base hits.
Haylie Santos picked up the win in the circle. She went the distance and allowed seven hits and three runs -- all earned -- with four strikeouts and three walks.
The Red Devils (0-2) were led by Carlie Milz, who was 2 for 3, and Madeline Hendrix, who had a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning.
Hannah Seyer pitched 6 1/3 innings and took the loss in the circle. She gave up 12 hits and eight runs -- seven earned -- and had one strikeout and three walks.

The Indians dropped to 0-2 on the season with the road loss.
Sophie Wunderlich went the distance in the circle for Jackson, allowing three earned runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking one.
Taylor Kirn doubled for one of Jackson's two hits. The other was a Kate Lawrence single.
The Indians host Perryville today.

Dustin Lorenz had a hat trick to lead the Crusaders to a victory over the Tigers in the second round of the Festus Classic.
Jakoata Walther, Luke Daniel and Trevor Ochs each scored a goal for Saxony (1-2), while Joe Rubach, Corie Williams and Drew Zieba each added an assist.
Crusaders goalkeeper Jacob Stueve had three saves in the shutout win.
Michael Rosenquist scored a second-half goal on an assist from Garrett Siebert, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs took a road loss in their season opener against the Wildcats.
Noah Santana added seven saves in the net for the Bulldogs (0-1).
