All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Notre Dame freshman Jack Litzelfelner tied for the medalist honor in helping Notre Dame to a three-shot victory at the 14-team Poplar Bluff Invitational on Monday at Westwood Hills Country Club in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Litzelfelner and Poplar Bluff's Nick Woolard both shot 2-over-par 73 to finish one shot ahead of a trio that included Notre Dame junior Brady Dixon and Central freshman Koby Franklin.

Notre Dame's Cody Cox was another stroke back at 75 and teammate Jon Renner rounded out the Bulldogs' winning team total of 308 with an 86.

"It was a good tournament today," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said. "Good weather, a little windy, but the kids came through,"

Poplar Bluff finished second at 311, followed by Central (319) and Jackson (324).

Litzelfelner, who has excelled on the junior level, consistently has been among the Bulldogs' top scorers in his first year of high school golf.

"He's a good little player," Grim said. "He plays smart and strikes the ball well. To be no bigger than he is, he hits the ball a long way."
