Notre Dame collected its fifth tournament title this season by repeating as the Class 3 District 1 champions Monday at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Mo.
The Bulldogs posted a 326 total to defeat runner-up Sikeston by 13 strokes in the 11-team field. Notre Dame and Sikeston both qualified, along with the top 15 indidual finishers not on those teams, for next Monday's sectional meet at Bent Creek Golf Course.
Sikeston's Kirk Hoggatt claimed the medalist honor with a 6-over-par 76, edging Notre Dame freshman Jack Litzelfelner by a stroke. Sikeston's Gabe Wheeler was third another stroke back.
Notre Dame's top four scorers all finished in the top 10. Junior Brady Dixon was fifth (80), junior Nick Cantoni tied for seventh (84) and senior Cody Cox tied for ninth (85).
"It was wet and the rough was long and thick," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said. "It was just a sloppy mess out there. That course is always wet in the spring, and if you get any rain at all, that makes that a tough course."
Notre Dame also claimed the Farmington Invitational at Crown Pointe earlier this spring. The Bulldogs also have won the Jackson Invitational, Poplar Bluff Invitational and SEMO Conference Tournament.
Perryville's Brett Schnurbush advanced to the sectional meet, leading the ninth-place Pirates with an 81.
