The Notre Dame girls swimming team placed first in six out of 10 events to capture first place at the Student Recreation Center Relays.
The Bulldogs won the 200 medley, 300 backstroke, 300 butterfly, 300 breaststroke and the 400 and 900 freestyle relays to clinch the gold with an overall team score of 112 in Friday's six-team meet at the Student Aquatic Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Sophomore Madison Heisserer swam on four of Notre Dame's six first-place packs while junior Amelia Coello and freshman Megan Peters helped propel the Bulldogs to first in three events.
Poplar Bluff finished first in three events to claim second place overall with a team score of 86. The Mules also shattered records in two events. Poplar Bluff's first-place team of freshman Morgan McAtee, sophomore Haylee Dragon, senior Kaelyn Moore and junior Cassidy Harris broke the meet and pool record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 48.59 seconds. The same four swimmers also set a new meet record in the 100 freestyle relay with a time of 53.20 seconds in addition to claiming first in the 400 medley relay for the Mules.
Central took second place in two events to post a third-place score of 70 followed by Jackson in fourth place with 66 points. Senior Morgan Maguire, senior Hannah Gard and sophomore Caitlyn Palmer placed first in the 600 medley relay with a time of 7:54.64 for the Indians.
Saxony Lutheran followed in a not-so-distant fifth place with a score of 60 rounded out by the Perryville/St. Vincent cooperative team with a score of 36.

Charlie Montgomery netted a team-high 17 points to lead the Red Devils in a conference win at home.
The Red Devils held a narrow two-point lead at halftime before a wild second half that included 88 points scored between the two Scott-Mississippi Conference rivals commenced. The Rams got back on top after the third quarter with a 45-41 advantage before the Red Devils responded in the final quarter, outscoring Scott City by 12 points to clinch the win.
Trevor Morehead sank 16 points and Peyton Montgomery added 15 points for Chaffee (9-3).
