All the local high school events reported Saturday to the Southeast Missourian.

The Notre Dame girls basketball team overcame a 12-point third quarter deficit to defeat Ursuline Academy 62-59 on the road Saturday.

Annie Siebert led Notre Dame (11-1) with 18 points, while Shelby Beussink scored eight of her 16 points during the fourth quarter where the Bulldogs held a 22-14 scoring advantage.

"I'm really proud of the girls," Notre Dame coach Renee Peters said. "They showed a lot of heart and found a way to win. They never quit."

Notre Dame overtook Ursaline with less than three minutes left in the game. The lead went back-and-forth with Ursaline ultimately missing a tying shot in the closing seconds.

"The girls played with some composure," Peters said.

Kaitlin Welter added 11 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Halle Lynch contributed six rebounds and three assists. Karsen Powers also had three assists.

Kelly Morton scored 23 points as the Tigers won the seventh-place game of the Northwest Invitational in Hillsboro, Mo.

Sydney Tollison and Maddison Daume both added 12 points for the Tigers, who improved to 3-11. Daum also had six assists, Morton had four steals and Deja Stewart grabbed nine rebounds.

The game was orginally scheduled for early December but had been postponed due to snow.

Boys Basketball

Perryville 76, St. Vincent 31

Trenton Green scored 15 points and nine other Pirates found the scoring column in a win over crosstown rival St. Vincent at the Perryville Recreation Center.

Garrett Martin added 14 points and Luke Schlichting had 11 for Perryville (10-5), which hit nine 3-pointers in the contest.

Nathan Carroll paced St. Vincent (3-11) with 15 points.

The Pirates led 42-19 at halftime and took a commanding 63-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Perryville returns to action Tuesday against Central, while St. Vincent faces Ste. Genevieve.
