Sophomore Alaina Baumgart posted a third-place time of 18 minutes, 56 seconds to help lead the Notre Dame girls cross country team to a second-place finish in the team standings at Saturday's Class 3 District 1 meet in Dexter, Missouri, sending the Bulldogs to the state meet.
Junior teammate Katie Hanners finished in seventh place with a time of 19:42 while senior Jordan Meadors claimed 10th place (20:03) for the Bulldogs, who finished 20 points behind champion Ste. Genevieve in the team standings. Dragons senior Taylor Werner won the girls race with a time of 16:58.
Ste. Genevieve also edged Festus by two points in the boys race to earn a bid to the state meet. Dragons junior Ben Naeger won the race with a time of 15:27. Notre Dame junior Rudy McClellan finished fifth (16:35) to lead the Bulldogs, who took third place in the team standings to miss the state cut.

Woodland junior Logan Thomsen crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 18:01.34 as the Cardinals flew to second place in the team standings at the West City Park in Festus, Missouri.
Teammate and twin brother Landon Thomsen followed in a not-so-distant seventh place (18:12.44) along with junior Thomas Grindstaff in 10th place with a time of 18:17.78 to round out the Top 10 for Woodland, whose boys' team will compete at next weekend's state meet at the Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.
On the girls' side, Woodland junior Cheyenne Wells finished in 10th place to qualify individually for the state meet as the Cardinals placed four points behind Arcadia Valley to miss a team bid to the state meet. Saxony Lutheran's Etienne Soto and Katie Richmond also advanced to the state meet following their 13th- and 14th-place finishes, respectively, as the Crusaders finished fourth overall in the team standings. Scott City senior Bella Bowers will also compete at the state meet following her seventh-place time of 22:33.70.

The St. Vincent boys and girls cross country teams both claimed team titles in Dexter, Missouri.
Senior Levi Krauss won the boys' race with a time of 17:01 while sophomore Corin Carroll claimed first in the girls' division with a time of 21:29 for the Indians.
Zalma junior Peyton Ford followed 10 seconds behind Krauss to lead the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish that was good enough to earn a bid to the state meet. Senior teammate Alex Steinberg finished sixth (17:23), and junior brother Jacob Steinberg followed one second behind in sixth place for Zalma.
