The Notre Dame softball team romped to the championship of its own Notre Dame SoftballFest on Saturday, run-ruling all three of its opponents in bracket play.
Notre Dame, which lost to graduation a significant portion of its roster from last season's state championship team, defeated Scott City 13-1 in five innings in the title game.
"We're playing well," Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett said. "We lost a lot of people, but so far, so good."
The Bulldogs defeated Sikeston 17-1 in four innings in the quarterfinals before getting past Cobden, Ill., 12-1 in six innings in the semifinals.
Junior Katie Bond got the victory in all three games.
Brianne Sanders was 3 for 4, while Brandi Glastetter was 2 for 3 with a double in the title game.
Sophomore Macy Hall was 2 for 3 with two doubles for Scott City.
"It's our first goal coming in," Graviett said of winning the title. "Accomplishing the first one is always big, especially with a young team. You always want to win your own tournament."
