Tyler Essner allowed one unearned run in a complete-game performance, leading the seventh-ranked Notre Dame baseball team to a 3-1 win over top-ranked Westminster Christian Academy on Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.

Essner scattered seven hits and had two strikeouts and three walks to pick up the win on the mound for Notre Dame (7-1). Ross Essner had a double to lead the Bulldogs at the plate.

Connor Dolan threw a complete game and was tagged with the loss for Westminster. He allowed six hits and three runs -- all earned -- with three strikeouts and five walks. Kevin Graham finished 2-for-3 to lead the Wildcats on offense.

Noah Brown threw four solid innings, and the Bulldogs scored all of their runs in the final three innings in the win over the Dragons at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, Missouri.

Brown struck out three, walked six and gave up three runs (all earned) on three hits to pick up the pitching win. Ross Essner threw three scoreless innings of relief, allowing three hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Garrett Siebert finished 4-for-4 with a double to lead Notre Dame (6-1) at the plate.

Trent Unterreiner pitched six innings, leading the Pirates to the victory over the Bearcats in Dexter, Missouri.

Unterreiner allowed two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and no walks. He was relieved in the bottom of the seventh inning by Wyatt Johnson, who was credited with the save in an inning of work.

Garrett Dix and Trent Steffens each had a double to lead Perryville (3-5-1) at the plate.

Trevor McDonald was tagged with the loss for Dexter (4-8) after giving up four hits and striking out five in a complete-game performance.

The St. Vincent baseball team concluded pool play with an 8-3 loss to the St. Louis Patriots homeschool team before wrapping up the tournament with an 8-5 loss to Sullivan.

Tyler Monier took the loss on the mound for the Indians in the first game, allowing four hits and four runs -- one earned -- with one strikeout and three walks in two innings of relief. Noah Niswonger threw five innings to start, giving up two hits and four runs -- two earned -- with eight strikeouts and five walks.

Lance Chapman finished 2-for-3 with a double to lead St. Vincent (8-4) at the plate.

Despite five solid innings from starter Joe Whistler, St. Vincent was bested when Sullivan rallied with six runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to edge out the victory in the second game.

Whistler gave up nine hits and six runs (five earned) before Matt Klein threw the final inning, allowing one hit and two unearned runs.

Niswonger finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles to pace the Indians on offense.

Saxony Lutheran romped in the tournament's third-place game, defeating Woodland 20-0 in five innings at Oak Ridge High School.

Nathan Hurst didn't allow a hit for the Crusaders (8-3) in five innings of work to earn the win. Dusty Lorenz paced the offense with three hits, including two doubles.

The losing pitcher of record for the Cardinals (3-8) was Keegan Cooper.

In the consolation championship, Zalma got past host Oak Ridge 8-3.

The Bulldogs (1-3) got a three-run home run from Dallan Stotts (2-for-3, four RBIs), who also picked up a save on the hill.

Brent Overbey was the winning pitcher of record in 5 2/3 innings of work with five strikeouts. Overbey was also 4-for-4 in the batter's box.

The Blue Jays' Jordan Barker had two doubles and was 3-for-4, but took the pitching loss.

Oak Ridge fell to 3-7 with the loss.

Brittany Garland finished 4-for-4 at the plate with a two-run home run, a pair of doubles and four RBIs to lead Leopold to a 13-3 win in five innings win over Oak Ridge, and Scott County Central edged out a 10-6 win over Meadow Heights at the Oak Ridge Invitational round-robin tournament.

Leopold's Lexi Vandeven threw five innings to earn the win in the circle, allowing one hit and three unearned runs with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Vandeven and Bryce Jansen added two hits for Leopold (8-1), while Shelby Schreckenberg contributed a double.

Jessica Hahs took the pitching loss for Oak Ridge. She allowed 10 hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter in four innings of work.

Jordan Layton had a double to pace the Blue Jays' offense.

Hailey Kesler finished 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles in the Bravettes' win over the Panthers. Maddison Avance added two doubles for SCC, while Kinley Alcorn finished 3-for-3 at the plate.

Kesler also threw a complete game to pick up the win in the circle, allowing 12 hits and six runs -- all earned -- with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Paige Mills took the pitching loss in six innings of work. She gave up 10 runs -- all earned -- on 14 hits with six strikeouts and five walks.
