High school roundup: Notre Dame baseball team extends winning streak to 14

Christian Job hit two doubles as the state-ranked Notre Dame baseball team claimed its 14th consecutive victory with a 7-3 conference win against host New Madrid County Central on Monday.

Adam Pope went the distance on the mound for the Bulldogs, giving up two earned runs, striking out four and walking two. The Bulldogs, ranked No, 1 in Class 4 in the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association poll, improved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in SEMO Conference play.

Palmer Campbell sustained the loss for the Eagles (6-11, 1-5). He pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits. He walked six and struck out four.

Jordan Griggs picked up the win on the mound for Scott County Central (5-5). He pitched a complete game and recorded 12 strikeouts and one walk. He also doubled at the plate.

Gavin Pobst smacked three doubles and Steven Burton added a double and four RBIs for the Braves.

Tyee Curry sustained the loss. He obtained one out and gave up 10 unearned runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.

Jordan Baker had the lone hit for Oak Ridge (1-11).

The win solidified the Hornets as regular-season conference champions of the Stoddard County Activities Association.
