Notre Dame got a clear look at a 3-pointer for the win in the closing seconds Wednesday, but it came up short.
The Bulldogs were trying to knock off St. Joseph Academy, No. 4 in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's large school rankings, but the shot fell short and Notre Dame lost 57-55 in girls basketball action.
Jane Morrill, who already committed to Arkansas State, led Notre Dame with 22 points. She added eight rebounds and a blocked shot. Meghan Dohogne pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds before fouling out.
Allyson Bradshaw chipped in 15 points, including three treys, and three assists.
Notre Dame will get a crack at the state's top-ranked team in Class 5 when Incarnate Word travels to Cape Girardeau for Saturday's Notre Dame Shootout. The Bulldogs (12-3) play Incarnate Word at 6 p.m.

The Indians trailed by a point in the closing seconds until their man-to-man defense paid dividends.
Berkeley tried to inbound the ball, but Dru Haertling was there for the steal. Haertling passed to Kaylen Knepp, who converted the game-winning layup with 2 seconds left.
Jackson improved to 8-5 with the road win.
Knepp led the Indians with 12 points, while Brooke Sanders added seven.

Paige Smith did a little of everything to help the Tigers to the road win.
The senior scored a game-high 12 points to go with five rebounds, five steals and a blocked shot. Machaela Durham dumped in 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Chelsea Vinson added 11 points for Central (9-4).
Angel Stone scored 10 points to lead the Crusaders (2-10).
