Quinn Poythress scored a season-high 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Notre Dame defeated visiting Scott County Central 69-59 on Monday in boys high school basketball action.

Notre Dame hit 10 3-pointers in the game as the Bulldogs overcame the loss of senior Derek Hulshof, who likely tore an ACL in the first half.

"Hulshof, I would say he's like our team leader as far as effort and energy," Notre Dame coach Paul Unterreiner said. "The kids knew something was up at halftime, and I called them together at the start of the second half and said, 'I know you guys are all wondering and talking about it -- most likely he tore his ACL.' I just challenged the guys to get on the glass and just dominate the boards, and they did so. I thought they executed a lot better in the second half. Different players stepped up."

Hulshof had five rebounds before departing, and the Bulldogs finished with 38 on the game.

Notre Dame led 28-27 at halftime and extended the margin to 47-40 by the start of the fourth quarter.

"I thought Quinn, the best part about his game tonight is he played a complete game," Unterreiner said about the 6-foot-7 senior. "He crashed the boards and he blocked and altered a lot of shots at the rim, which I thought carried straight over into his offensive game. He just kind of took control tonight."

Brendan Boswell finished with 12 points -- all on 3-pointers.

"Those were his first points of the year," Unterreiner said. "He stepped up big for us tonight."

Jeffery Porter scored 23 points for the Braves before fouling out.
