All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

The top-seeded Meadow Heights girls basketball team waltzed into the championship game of the Class 2 District 3 tournament Monday with a 77-16 win against Chaffee in Greenville, Mo.

The Panthers improved to 21-4 and will face No. 2 Lesterville in the title game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Erin Bollmann had 24 points and 14 steals to lead Meadow Heights. Taylor Cureton added 18 points, and Jessica Baremore had 13.

Taylor Fodge paced Chaffee with six points.

The Indians fell behind by 12 points in the first quarter and never recovered in a season-ending loss in the Class 2 District 4 tournament in Bismarck, Mo.

"We played from behind the whole way," St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy said.

Valleroy said his fifth-seeded Indians trailed 58-57 midway through the fourth quarter and had a chance to pull ahead but saw the potential go-ahead basket rim out on a second-chance shot.

Sean Martin finished with 23 points for the Indians (9-16), while Mark Kutz had 21. No other St. Vincent player tallied more than four points.

Trevor Clay led No. 4 Crossroads with 29 points.
