Top-seeded defending champion Leopold had no problems disposing of fifth-seeded Zalma, winning 25-11, 25-12 to advance to tonight's championship match of the Missisippi Valley Conference tournament in Greenville, Mo.
Leopold will face host Greenville, the second seed, for the championship at 8 p.m. today. The Bears (19-7-1) downed third-seeded Meadow Heights in the other semifinal.
Ashlyn Bucher recorded nine kills, two digs and two aces for Leopold (20-2-3). Bailee Cope tallied six kills, two aces and one block, while Caitlin Petty had 10 assists, six kills and three aces. Emily Seiler added six kills and five aces for the Wildcats.
Zalma fell to 3-18-3.
Meadow Heights (13-13) will battle Zalma for third place at 7 p.m. tonight.
Sophomore Brylee Morse slammed nine kills as third-seeded Advance dropped a 25-21, 25-22 decision to second-seeded Bernie in a semifinal of the Stoddard County Activities Association (SCAA) Conference Tournament in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Senior Krystal James added five kills for Advance (14-12-2). Freshman Alanis Below tallied eight digs and four kills. Kimsey Lillard notched 10 digs and Hannah Clark dished out 14 assists for the Hornets in their third loss to the Mules this season. Bernie improved to 20-8.
Top-seeded Dexter swept fourth-seeded host Bloomfield (16-9-2) 25-17, 25-13 in the other semifinal. Jessica Lindsey recorded 10 kills and three blocks for the Bearcats, while Shyann Jines added six kills. Krysten Garrison tallied 10 assists and six kills and Julia Hahn dished out 11 assists for Dexter (25-2-1).
Raegan Wieser recorded seven digs, six kills and two blocks as the Crusaders sustained a tough loss on their Senior Night.
Brianna Mueller tallied nine assists and nine digs for Saxony Lutheran (13-13-5). Abigail Bergmann notched six digs for the Crusaders.
Jackson improved to 13-13-2.
JV -- Saxony Lutheran won 25-19, 25-18
Abbie McAlister nailed 13 kills to lead the Bulldogs in the road victory.
Lydia Goodson tallied seven kills and three blocks for Notre Dame (18-5-1). Sam Brennan notched nine digs and four kills, while Sam Feeney recorded 24 assists and four aces for the Bulldogs.
Festus fell to 4-14-3.
Notre Dame returns to Festus on Saturday to defend its crown in the 31st Annual Festus Biehle Invitational Tournament.
JV -- Notre Dame won in two sets.
The Red Devils placed first in seven events to win the tri-meet with the Indians and the Tigers on Thursday at the Central Municipal Pool.
Notre Dame freshman Drew Beussink won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 4.24 seconds to help lead the Bulldogs to second place.
Central took first in four events but ended up finishing third. Freshman Brogan Davis posted a state-qualifying time of 22.54 seconds in winning the 50 freestyle for the Tigers.

St. Vincent's Levi Krauss was the first to cross the finish line in a time of 17 minutes, 47 seconds to help lead the Indians to victory at the 25-team Saxony Lutheran/Chaffee Invitational at Jackson City Park.
Woodland's Landon Thomsen finished second with a time of 17 minutes, 59 seconds to lead the Cardinals to second place on the boys' side.
On the girls' side, Woodland's Cheyenne Wells took first place with a time of 22 minutes, 7 seconds. The Cardinals finished 33 points behind Crystal City to take second place. Saxony Lutheran's Grace Hanebrink and Zalma's Chelsey Lemons finished in the top ten.
