The Leopold softball team wasted little time capturing the championship Saturday.
The Wildcats scored in every inning, downing Meadow Heights 17-1 in four innings to win the Oak Ridge tournament title.
Whitney Vandeven struck out nine to earn the win and went 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
In other action, Woodland edged Oak Ridge 5-4.
Lauren Johnson collected a pair of hits, including a double, in the win. Amy McFarland earned the win.
Shelby Proctor took the loss for the Blue Jays despite finishing with three hits.

Jackson junior Jill Rushin earned first place in the discus (142 feet, 7 inches) and second place in the shot put (44-5) in Lawrence, Kan.
Rushin's shot put throw broke the Jackson High School record.
"That's huge competition [at the Kansas Relays], so she had a great weekend," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said.
Jackson, which had eight of its athletes compete at the meet, also got a solid performance from Landon Wachter, who finished sixth in the 400-meter sprint (59.59 seconds) and placed 10th in the 300 hurdles (47.00).
Cole Rodgers finished 13th in the discus (146.6).
BASEBALLOak Ridge tournament
Andrew Minson's sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning proved the game-winner for Woodland.
The Cardinals pushed across the late run to down Delta 2-1 in the consolation title game.
Jesse Long struck out eight to earn the win.
Neil Johnson went 2-for-3, including a triple, in the win.
Shelby Kight went 2-for-3 in the loss.

Trenton St. Cin homered while also tossing 5 1/3 solid innings to earn the win on the mound and help the Bulldogs remain undefeated.
St. Cin came in to pitch in the second inning. He struck out three and walked three. He gave up three runs.
Ryan Bass homered and Colton Young went 2-for-5 while also recording the save for Notre Dame (9-0).

Erin Eakens scored off an assist from Kasey Crowden, but Jackson fell to Smith-Cotton 2-1.
Jackson's other scheduled game, against Lafayette, was canceled because of inclement weather.
The loss dropped the Indians to 8-3 this season.
BOYS TENNISCentral quad
The Tigers dropped matches against Eureka and Parkway West.
Central's Nick Hines won his No. 4 singles match 6-2, 7-5 over Eureka's Kurtis Fjerstad.
Central's Caleb Yeargain and Austin Shupert won their doubles match 6-4, 4-6, 10-3.
The Tigers were swept by Parkway West in a match that had three singles matches canceled because of rain.
