All the area high school events reported Thursday to the Southeast Missourian.

Jackson junior Tanner Werner shot one-under par to capture first place in the Class 4 District 1 golf tournament Thursday at Aberdeen Golf Course in Eureka, Mo.

Werner, who shot a 71, qualified for the Class 4 state tournament with the win. Werner, the runner-up at the Class 4 tournament as a freshman, will be making his third appearance at the state meet when play begins at the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia, Mo., on May 17 and 18.

Jackson's Drew Hosp shot a 78 and will join Werner at the state tournament.

The Indians took second with a team score of 316. Poplar Bluff finished first with a 310 total.

Corey Connell was Central's lone state qualifier with a 79.

Class 1 District 1

St. Vincent golfers combined for a 325 total to capture the title at the Class 1 District 1 tournament at the Ste. Genevieve Country Club.

The win advances St. Vincent to the state tournament May 17 and 18 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.

St. Vincent's Sean Martin tied for the medalist honor with a 77.

Saxony Lutheran took second with a 352 but qualified four golfers for the state tournament. The Crusaders will send Zach Vaeth (82), Garrett Brewer (89), Collin Sprandel (90) and Adam Boehme (91).

SOFTBALL

Leopold 12, Puxico 10

Emily Elfrink hit a three-run, walk-off home run as Leopold (12-6) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Puxico.

The hit, which came with no one out and runners at second and third, was one of three for Elfrink, who finished with four RBIs.

Winning pitcher Mallory James (7-2) also belted a three-run home run in the first inning.

Shelbee Miller and Mackenzie Beel both went 2 for 5, while Ashley Keim added a double.

It only took the Blue Jays four innings to get the win at home.

Stacey Roberts connected for a triple and went 3 for 3 for the Blue Jays (4-11). Kirsten Johnson went 3 for 4, while Morgan Newell and Emily Ruch each had two hits.

Shelby Proctor picked up the win in the circle.

Andrew Turhune went 3 for 4, while Jason Cicardi, Alex Davie and Jared Walker all finished with two hits.

Davie picked up his fourth win on the mound.

Spencer Sander hit a double for the Crusaders.

Trent Irwin picked up the win on the mound, while Kielhofner recorded the save.

Brooke Sanders and Morgan Riddick combined for five saves in goal.

Notre Dame-St. Louis 3, Notre Dame 1

The Bulldogs (8-9) lost at home to the Rebels.

Brianne Sanders netted the Bulldogs' lone goal on a pass from Allyson Bradshaw.

Lindsey Strieker recorded 12 saves in the loss.

Brooke Valleroy recorded the Crusaders' lone goal in a road loss.

Sarah Winningham assisted on the goal.

Morgan Franklin, Becca Hanquist and Megan Moldenhauer scored goals as the Pirates (11-4) won on the road.

Franklin, who scored on a penalty kick, also had an assist, as did Moldenhauer.

Natalie Bauwens and Brittany Guebert each had one save in goal for the Pirates.
