The Jackson wrestling team boasted two champions as it won the St. Charles West Invitational for the first time in its 16 years of participation in the meet Saturday.
Jarrett Reisenbichler (106 pounds) and Jake Byrd (120) won titles for the Indians, who finished with 166 points.
Reisenbichler won a 2-0 decision over Eureka's Kyran Hagan, while Byrd defeated defending Class 3 state champion Chandler Fohey of Hannibal 3-1 in his title match.
Tyler Rush (138) and heavyweight Preston Hobeck both added runner-up finishes, while Dylan Rush (145), Clayton Collier (152) and Clay Darnell (220) all finished fourth.
Jackson finished four and one-half points ahead of Union County, Ky. (166) and five points ahead of Edwardsville, Ill. (161) in the 16-team field.
"It was a pretty big win for us," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "It was a very high level of competition with a lot of all-state athletes and state champions. There were quite a few all-Americans and two national wrestling champions there. It was a really competitive tournament."
