All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

Melinna Craft banged eight kills and had nine digs as Jackson opened its volleyball season with a three-set victory against visiting St. Vincent.

The Indians won the first game 25-12, dropped the second game 18-25, then won the match with a 25-18 victory.

Sara Thompson led the defensive effort with 15 digs for the Indians, while Kelsey McDowell contributed seven kills and 19 assists. Natalie Miller also had 11 digs and six kills.

Eagle Ridge 25 25 Tower Grove 9 14

Hannah Hess put down five kills and had three aces to lead Eagle Ridge to a sweep.

Bethany Miget collected five aces, while Nicole Mobley had seven assists. Megan Woodall added five assists and four digs for the Eagles (1-1).

Woodland Invitational

Leopold beat the Jackson JV 25-5, 25-12 on the opening night of the Woodland Invitational tournament.

In other action, Advance defeated Oak Ridge 25-16, 25-7, Woodland turned back Zalma 25-15, 25-20, while Meadow Heights defeated Saxony Lutheran 25-17, 18-25, 25-20.

GIRLS GOLF

Notre Dame 196, Farmington 213

Andrea Younghouse shot a 47 to lead the Bulldogs to victory at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Mo.

Amy Blattel added a 49 for Notre Dame, while Keira Soutar and Mattie Beussink both shot 50.

Kelly 11, Delta 1

Samantha Ratledge slammed a home run to help Kelly Hawks to a six-inning victory.

Jessica Worth added a triple and finished 3 for 4. Jade Rampley and Sydney Vinyard both had a triple,

Emily Grojean, Marissa Menz and Ratledge all had two hits in Kelly's 14-hit attack.

Kristi Brucker picked up the win in the circle.

Courtney Beggs, Tori Burton and Rachel Birkman had doubles for Delta.

Sikeston collected 12 hits in a road win against Chaffee.

Stevie Schrum and Sierra Miller both went 3 for 4 for Chaffee (1-3). Schrum had a double and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Miller and Kaitlin McFerron both had two hits.

Hailey Enderle took the loss for Chaffee.

Notre Dame won four events as it won its season-opening opening meet at the Southeast Missouri State Aquatic Center.

Central's Jordan Gramling and Jackson's Kristian Troxel both won two individual events. Troxel also swam on the Indians' winning medley relay team.
